Electronics & Semiconductor Industry

The principle of graphite application in the semiconductor industry mainly utilizes its characteristics such as high electrical and thermal conductivity. When manufacturing chip substrates, graphene can be used as a support structure for the chip, while ensuring the stability and reliability of the chip. When manufacturing semiconductor devices, graphite can be used as a substrate material, while providing heat dissipation and electrical contact functions. In addition, graphite can be used to manufacture components such as sensors, power supplies and radio equipment in electronic devices.

Graphite is a non-metallic material with excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and high temperature resistance, and therefore has a wide range of applications in electronic equipment. The main roles of graphite products in electronic equipment include:

1. Conductive material

Graphite has a very low resistivity and is a good conductive material. In electronic equipment, graphite is often used as brushes, electrodes, resistors, conductive film and so on. For example, in electric motors, graphite brushes are used to transfer current from the outside of the motor to the rotor inside; in welding machines, graphite electrodes are used to create an electric arc; and in electrical circuits, graphite resistors are used to limit current or divide voltage.

2. Thermally Conductive Materials

Graphite has a high thermal conductivity and is a good thermal conductive material. In electronic devices, graphite is often used as a heat sink, thermal paste, thermal interface materials. For example, in computer CPU, graphite heat sink is used to conduct the heat generated by the CPU; in cell phone, graphite thermal paste is used to fill the gap inside the cell phone to improve the heat dissipation efficiency; in LED lights, graphite thermal interface material is used to conduct the heat generated by the LED chip to the heat sink.

3. Corrosion-resistant material

Graphite has good chemical stability and is resistant to acid and alkali corrosion. In electronic equipment, graphite is often used as sealing materials, anti-corrosion coatings and so on. For example, in chemical pumps, graphite seals are used to prevent liquid leakage; in electroplating tanks, graphite anti-corrosion coatings are used to protect electroplating tanks from corrosion.

4. Other Uses

In addition, graphite products have some other uses in electronic equipment, for example:

In batteries, graphite can be used as negative electrode material.

In touch screen, graphite can be used as transparent electrode.

In electromagnetic shielding, graphite can be used as shielding material.
